Autumn Goodies Added To Etsy

You know how much I adore Autumn.  So when this time of year rolls around I get totally inspired by all the beautiful colors.  Also this year, I decided to make some fall inspired to add to my little Etsy shop.

I few autumn inspired cloth napkin prints to add to the collection.

The second one (trees) is an old favorite of mine.  I'm so glad this print is back and super excited that I could start creating items with it again - perfect for the fall.

In addition to napkins (we can't get enough of this at our house - I think our current rotation of napkins we use for a family of 5 is about 120 now and counting!), I also started to make fabric bunting.  I love the way these look and completely functional too.  I sewn it so it's completely rewashing - no fraying and easy to iron flat.

Take a peak :)

This is my favorite, fall inspired bunting.  Absolutely beautiful colors - reds, oranges and browns.

Fabric Bunting is such a great way to add a pop of color to any room or outdoor activity.  Our boys like to string it around the living room and playroom for fun :).  Silly kids!

Here's one that was Halloween inspired.  This will be used outside our home very soon.

Well that's the shop update for now.  Have a great week everyone!

Sometimes I Make Yucky Food...

One of my love-hate vegetables are zucchinis. Each year in the garden I feel obliged to plant 1 or 2 plants of them. They're easy to grow around here, I cook with them in pastas and they seem like one of those 'summer' things to do in the garden. This year my 2 plants got hit with the mega-growth-bug or something crazy, but whatever the case I had A LOT of zucchinis.  Long story short[er] I decided to make zucchini 'pasta'.

Got myself one of these tools off of Amazon.  BTW - the tool was awesome.  Worked like a charm.  Easy to use and felt very sturdy - definitely a keeper in the kitchen.  The 'pasta' however was another story.

After a whole (pretty good sized) zucchini, I had plenty of pasta for a family of 4.  I added in some seasoning - salt, pepper and a little bit of vinegar.  Tasted very bland still.

Then I did a very very bad thing.  The thing that probably killed the whole dish.  I added cheese.  After the cheese went in, it was...yucky.

I don't think I will be making this again.  Besides from sneaking it into some pasta dishes, I haven't really found a real love for this prevalent vegetables.

The scraps and the 'pasta' went straight into the compost bin.

Bias Tape Maker & Flag Bunting

Okay I finally did it.  I brought a bias tape maker.  I have put it in my shopping cart on Amazon a dozen times and have taken it off.  Even placed an order for it once then cancelled it.  Don't know why, but I just couldn't justify getting it.  Until now.

So I brought it.  It's the Simplicity Bias Tape Maker found here on Amazon.  So far, I LOVE it!  It's fast...actually I wish it was a little slower or have the option to control the speed.  But nonetheless, it gets the job done and super easy to use.

Very easy button system - turn on, set temperature and hit RUN.

I brought a 3/4" tip and found that the hardest part was feeding in the bias tape initially.  After that it was just as easy as pushing a button...literally.  After a few times I didn't use the roller so I don't have to go through the extra step of rolling up all the tape.

Super easy to use.  Feed it in twice to get DOUBLE folded bias tape.  Make sure to fold the tape in half and do not use the tip - just fit it in straight into the pressing part.  This is the part when I wish I could control the speed because I couldn't fold the tape fast enough to keep up with the rolling and had to stop the machine a few times to 'catch up'.

Overall a great machine.  Before long I had enough double bias tape.

What am I making with these?  Bunting Flags :) - I'm addicted to them and just started to add then to the shop.  Here's the first 3 sets...more to come!

Wear It Again Baby Clothes

Aya is almost 10 months now and growing like a weed. Like most of you know, baby clothes at this age is pricey and babies outgrow them usually after a few washes (if you're lucky!).  Looking for Aya's pile of 'no longer fit' clothes I was really bummed that she barely wore some of the really cute clothes she had.  So I decided to transform them like I see a lot of moms do.

So out with the scissors and ended up with 2 cute new tops.

I made a couple of more after this but forgot to photo them :(.

Here's a glimpse of how I transform the onesie - pretty simple and tons of great tutorials out there.
Pretty much snip, measure and sew.  Takes less than 10 minutes once you get the hang out it.

Love simple and money savings projects like these.

Happy sewing!
